What it is

AutoClaw is a desktop application for delegating research, documents, data analysis, automation, and engineering tasks to an agent.

  • 50+ built-in skills to execute agent tasks
  • Local files to inspect and edit documents on disk
  • Browser actions to interact with web pages
  • IM integrations to connect chat workflows
  • GLM models to run inference

Model calls require an internet connection. We get a managed desktop harness for agent tasks, not a standalone model.

What changed

  • 2026-03-31: AutoClaw was recorded as a locally installable variant of OpenClaw. In a corporate report, Z.ai noted that Claw Plan, launched in March, reached 100 000 subscriptions in two days.
  • 2026-03-10: The app launched publicly with one-click local OpenClaw setup, 50+ preinstalled skills, and a Feishu connection.
  • 2026-03-15: GLM-5-Turbo became the dedicated Z.ai model for OpenClaw workflows: tool use, skills, multi-step tasks, and agent coordination.
  • 2026-06-24: AutoClaw v1.9.0 added GLM-5.2 with 1M tokens of context and Auto Design.
  • 2026-08-27: Release v1.17.8 in the changelog added GLM-5.3-Flash and improved office file previews and streaming responses.

How to use this

As of 2026-03-31, make no practice change from this line until the original post or independently researched evidence establishes a specific AutoClaw development event.

  1. Open the official download section and select the installer for Windows or your Mac processor type. — https://autoclaw.z.ai/download/
  2. Install the app: on Windows run the .exe; on macOS move the app from the .dmg into Applications. — https://autoclaw.z.ai/download/
  3. Sign in on first launch; built-in skills run without Python, Node.js, or a CLI environment. — https://autoclaw.z.ai/download/
  4. For large PRD and UI tasks, open Auto Design, wait for initial initialization, and pass the requirements whole. — https://autoclaw.z.ai/blog/product/autoclaw-v1-9-0-glm-5-2-auto-design/

Still unknown

  • The official page cited for the 2026-03-31 event redirects to the current web interface and lacks an archive date or description for that day.
  • No primary dated release note confirms the exact initial AutoClaw version or its full changes as of 2026-03-31.
  • The 2026-03-10 launch and 50+ skills rest on a secondary dated report; we found no primary launch post in available sources.
